Road Race Header (w/ oxygen sensor position for use on a 1989-92 RX-7 13B) – This model Road Race Header that we offer is intended to bolt-up to the Road Race Presilencer section. Please note: this header is not compatible with the Street Port Center Section that we offer for the earlier 1984-85 RX-7 GSL-SE – only with the Road Race Presilencer section referenced above. This header is not compatible with the 1988-92 RX-7 convertible chassis equipped with the automatic transmission: the header outlet will make contact with the transmission case.
Racing Beat’s Road Racing Header is the first step in building a serious racing exhaust system. The engine-to-pipe flange is laser cut from 7/16″ thick flat steel for superb exhaust gas sealing qualities. Like all of the headers we manufacture, the Road Racing Header is constructed with 2″ OD mild steel tubing, .120″ wall thickness, and mandrel-bent tubing throughout. This header weighs approximately 15.5 lbs and is approximately 28″ in length.
On the 1986-88 13B 6-Port engines, the auxiliary intake actuators are operated by backpressure from the exhaust system. On the later 1989-92 13B 6-Port engines, these actuators are operated by air pressure from the emissions control air pump. Installation of this header does NOT require the removal of the air pump, and therefore the operation of the 6-port actuators are not affected. Included on the header is an oxygen sensor position for cars that require an oxygen sensor for correct operation.
Outlet flange gaskets, bolts, nuts, and installation instructions are included. An Engine-to-Header gasket is not included, but is available separately if needed.

1986-92 RX-7 Street Exhaust System
The Racing Beat street legal, Power Pulse cat-back RX-7 exhaust system is the perfect replacement for your RX-7 exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. If you need to retain the emissions status of your RX-7 and keep the sound level to a tolerable level – look no further than this Racing Beat system!The RX-7 exhaust system consists of a Racing Beat Y-pipe and two 2.375″-inch (OD) 304-stainless steel Power Pulse mufflers. The replacement Y-pipe is manufactured using 2.5-inch (OD) tubing, splitting off into a pair of 2-inch (OD) tubes feeding the left and right Power Pulse Muffler canisters.
Careful consideration was given to the correct placement of each muffler canister with regards to the opening in the rear bumper. Racing Beat positioned the muffler canister “under” the rear bumper in order to present a more integrated look. Unlike many aftermarket systems that use a simple universal muffler, the Racing Beat system utilizes a rotary-engine designed muffler that has been specifically designed for the 1986-92 RX-7 application.
Performance tests on a Dyno Jet chassis dyno have shown a 7.3 HP gain over the stock system (stock Turbo II). This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets.

Down Pipe with Presilencer – 1988 RX-7 Convertible Non-Turbo (w/Manual Transmission) – The 1986-92 13B 6-port engines, in stock form with the factory fuel injection, produces similar power gains with either our Header/Presilencer combo or our RX-7 Down Pipe/Presilencer combination. If you have no intentions of installing RB’s Holley intake System (or any other aftermarket carb set-up), we recommend the use of the down pipe/Presilencer combo since it offers a slightly quieter exhaust note, is easier to install and less costly. If you are intending to upgrade the intake or fuel injection system, the Header/Presilencer combo offers the greatest performance potential.
The 1988 RX-7 Convertible (w/ Manual Transmission) Down Pipe/Presilencer combination incorporates a 2.5-inch O.D. Down Pipe and our perforated stainless steel core and stainless steel wool-packed Presilencer to boost power approximately 13% – an 18 horsepower increase on a 1987 RX 7- and maintain a comfortable exhaust noise level during full power driving.
The replacement pipe connects to the factory exhaust manifold, and the presilencer connects to the factory Y-pipe, replacing all catalytic converters and intermediate tubing. (The downpipe cannot be used as a “bolt-up” component to replace just the catalytic converters.)
The Racing Beat presilencer is equipped with an exhaust back-pressure tube for correct operation of the 6-port actuators. Installation of this requires the removal of the air control and check valve and the air pump. This kit includes all necessary mounting hardware, air control & check valve cover plate, and gaskets (1 Back Pressure Pick-up and 3 Replacement Pipe-to-Presilencer gaskets).

The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer for the 1971-78 & 81-83 RX-7 is designed to be used with our wide selection of RX-7 Streetable Headers to complete a bolt-on configuration. These Power Pulse Presilencers are ideal for those individuals wanting to fabricate custom exhaust systems incorporating either long or short primary exhaust systems.
The Power Pulse Presilencer improves the character of the exhaust noise, dramatically reducing the inherent, obnoxious metallic high frequency noise with virtually no power loss. Constructed with a high temperature, 2-inch I.D. perforated core of 304 stainless steel wrapped with high-temperature stainless steel wool, the Power Pulse Presilencer measures 20 inches in length with a 4-inch outside diameter. The mounting studs are 12mm both front and rear.
