The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer for the 1989-92 RX-7 Non-turbo (w/manual transmission) is designed to be used with our wide selection of RX-7 headers to complete a bolt-on configuration to the Y-pipe section. (Includes both coupe and convertible models.)

This same Power Pulse Presilencer is included as a sub-component with the Catalytic Converter Replacement Pipe/Presilencer assemblies we offer for all 1989-92 RX-7s. Furthermore, these Power Pulse Presilencers are ideal for those individuals wanting to fabricate custom exhaust systems incorporating either long or short primaries.

The Racing Beat Power Pulse Presilencer improves the character of the exhaust noise, dramatically reducing the inherent, obnoxious metallic high frequency noise with virtually no power loss. Constructed using a stainless-steel shell, interior core tube, and high temperature stainless packing wool, the Power Pulse Presilencer features a 2.5″ ID core and measures 20-inches in length with a 4-inch outside diameter. Each end is fitted with 12mm studs. The attachment hanger shown will allow correct fitment onto the exact application listed.

    This Down Pipe is available for custom applications in a 1986-91 RX-7 (excluding convertible) non-turbo application. This 2.5-inch down pipe fits either manual or automatic transmission equipped cars and eliminates the catalytic converter sections.

    This down pipe bolts to the stock exhaust manifold, but the use of our presilencer (or a suitable replacement) is required to connect this assembly to the Y-pipe section. If you need to retain a catalytic converter in your exhaust system, you may find a suitable unit offered in the aftermarket. Although the replacement of your stock catalytic converters with a single aftermarket unit is technically NOT legal, this approach may suit your emissions needs. We suggest you contact your local emissions testing facility for more information. Gaskets sold separately.

    Racing Beat Exhaust Pre-Silencer with Down Pipe, 89-92 Non Turbo Manual Transmission Convertible

    Down Pipe with Presilencer – 1989-92 RX-7 Convertible Non-Turbo (equipped with Manual Transmission) – The 1986-92 13B 6-port engines, in stock form with the factory fuel injection, produces similar power gains with either our Header/Presilencer combo or our RX-7 Down Pipe/Presilencer combination. If you have no intentions of installing RB’s Holley intake System (or any other aftermarket carb set-up), we recommend the use of the RX-7 Down Pipe/Presilencer combo since it offers a slightly quieter exhaust note, is easier to install and less costly. If you are intending to upgrade the intake or fuel injection system, the Header/Presilencer combo offers the greatest performance potential.

    The 1989-92 RX-7 down Pipe/Presilencer combination incorporates a 2.5-inch O.D. Down Pipe and our perforated stainless steel core and stainless steel wool-packed Presilencer to boost power approximately 13% – an 18 horsepower increase on a 1987 RX 7- and maintain a comfortable exhaust noise level during full power driving.

    The replacement pipe connects to the factory exhaust manifold, and the presilencer connects to the factory Y-pipe, replacing all catalytic converters and intermediate tubing. It is not possible to use just the down pipe to replace only the catalytic converters. The use of the presilencer is required to complete the connection to the y-pipe. Although a short length of tubing can be substituted in place of the presilencer, we do not offer (or suggest) this due the unacceptable increase in exhaust noise. The down pipe is equipped with a mounting flange for the oxygen sensor. This kit includes all necessary mounting hardware, air control & check valve cover plate, and gaskets (3 Replacement Pipe-to-Presilencer gaskets).
