OIL RELIEF VALVE, ADJUSTABLE STREET
OIL RELIEF VALVE, ADJUSTABLE STREET
The Racing Beat high performance Rear Oil Pressure Regulator is designed for use on all 1971-1992 12A, 13B, and 20B engines and interchanges exactly with the stock unit. As supplied by Mazda, the factory pressure regulator is intended to bypass at maximum nominal rate of 71.1 PSI. For use on higher performance street applications the Racing Beat regulator can be substituted, which bypasses at a higher maximum nominal rate of 80-85 PSI.
As a general rule, oil pressure should be increased as the horsepower output and engine RPM increases. As horsepower and RPM demands increase, it is beneficial to have higher oil pressure between the shaft and bearings to prevent possible catastrophic contact between spinning components. Additionally, as oil pressure is increased, flow rate also increases – hence, more oil is available to cool the bearings and rotors.

OIL RELIEF VALVE, ADJUSTABLE, COMPETITION
The High Performance Rear Oil Pressure Regulator interchanges exactly with the stock rear oil pressure regulator on all 1971-2008 12A, 13B, and 20B engines. This oil pressure regulator is designed to bypass at 105-115 PSI. (Pressure this high should be used only for racing). When using this regulator, the front pressure regulator should be shimmed an 1/8-inch to ensure that it does not limit the oil pressure (shims included).
As a general rule, oil pressure should be increased as the horsepower output and engine RPM increases. Tech Notes:
– The 1993-95 13B Twin Turbo the factory rear oil pressure regulator bypasses at a maximum nominal rate of 110 PSI.
-The 2004-2008 RX-8 Renesis engine factory rear oil pressure regulator bypasses at a maximum nominal rate of 80 PSI.
– The 2009-2011 RX-8 Renesis engine is not equipped with a rear pressure regulator. Nominal oil maximum oil pressure on this application is 110-115 PSI. We do not offer a regulator to increase the oil pressure on this application.

PILOT BEARING REMOVER TOOL
Pilot Bearing Remover Tool
To remove the old pilot bearing the bearing MUST be gripped at its front end. Very few of the aftermarket pullers we tested were able to do this correctly. They often tended to destroy the bearing making removal even harder.
To use the tool simply insert the attachment into the bearing, being sure to get it to the end of the bearing, insert the tapered / threaded end of the slap hammer part and screw them together until the bearing is firmly gripped. Then just “slap hammer” it out. Should take less than a minute.
This tool prevents eccentric shaft damage when removing bearing.
This tool does fit other cars including Miata. We do not have a list of cars that it will work on. The RX pilot bearing/input shaft measures .588″. If your application also has a .588 shaft/bearing, this tool will work.SKU: 49-1285 -
PORT TEMPLATE TOOL, J-BRIDGE INTAKE 4-PORT
PORT TEMPLATE TOOL, J-BRIDGE INTAKE 4-PORT
The Racing Beat Intake Port Templates allow you to undertake your own “J-bridge” port efforts on any 12A or 13B rotary engine (except 13B 6-port). These templates are traced from Racing Beat’s own master templates, which are the result of years of research and development. The actual port shapes are traced on thin sheets of aluminum which you must first cut out, testing your ability to use a die grinder effectively before attempting to port an expensive engine component. The finished template is held in place and the porting shape is then traced onto each housing. You must then use your own judgment to develop the port shape beyond the scribed line.

The Racing Beat “Race” Exhaust Port Templates for all 13B peripheral port exhaust rotary engines allow you to undertake your own exhaust porting efforts. The race version of these templates open the exhaust port further “upwards”, increasing the port timing duration which results in more intake-exhaust overlap and better high RPM performance.
The Racing Beat laser-cut aluminum porting templates are patterned after their own original master templates. Designed and refined over decades by Racing Beat’s legendary engine builder and co-founder Jim Mederer, this exhaust port template gives you a powerful resource to assist you in your engine upgrade project.
Incredibly easy to use, simply mark the template position as instructed, spray the exhaust port area with marking dye, hold the template in position (we use a simple hand clamp or a office paper clamp), and then scribe the new port shape onto the housing. It’s really that easy.
Porting Effort
During your porting effort we suggest you stay within the boundary of our template shape. This shape has been designed to yield excellent results for a broad range of engine building applications. However, you can certainly get more aggressive with porting efforts beyond the template line, you must then use your own judgment and expertise as a guide.SKU: 22216 -

PORT TEMPLATE TOOL, STREET INTAKE 4-PORT
Port Template Tool, Intake Street Port (4-port)
Racing Beat Intake Port Templates allows you to undertake your own “street” intake porting effort on most 12A or 13B rotary engines (except 13B 6-port and Renesis). Rotary tuners long ago discovered that changes to the intake port shape will alter intake timing, allowing increased airflow and velocity improvements. These templates are traced from Racing Beat’s own master templates, which are the result of years of research and development. The actual port shapes are traced onto thin sheets of aluminum which you must first cut out, testing your ability to use a die grinder effectively before attempting to port an expensive engine component. The finished Racing Beat porting template is held in place and the porting shape is then traced onto each housing. You must then use your own judgment to develop the port shape within and beyond the scribed line.
