    Power Output
    Utilizing Racing Beat’s in-house dyno test facilities, the Racing Beat engineering staff has undertaken exhaust system extensive testing with the RX-8 Renesis engine. Their research has found that simply adding a large-diameter, “straight-through” muffler is very loud, and power gains are only modest. They focused their   development efforts on optimizing the power output, while maintaining a moderate, but aggressive exhaust tone.

    Based upon Racing Beat’s initial test sessions, it appeared that the Mazda engineers did not leave much “untapped” horsepower behind in the stock exhaust system. Although it appears there might be modest power gains available from a “cat-back” exhaust system, be wary of big horsepower claims from any aftermarket exhaust system.

    Racing Beat’s testing has provided the following results:

    Stock production engine – with muffler removed +5 HP
    Stock production engine – with RB muffler + 3.5 HP
    Stock production engine – with aftermarket system “A” muffler + 3.5 HP
    Stock production engine – with aftermarket system “B” muffler + -1.5 HP

    The Racing Beat REV8 “Street Legal”, Cat-Back RX-8 Exhaust System (Twin Outlet Tips) is the perfect replacement for your stock exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. Racing Beat’s RX-8 exhaust system consists of a 304 stainless steel Racing Beat connecting-pipe, muffler canisters, tubing, flanges, and outlet tips. The replacement connecting-pipe is manufactured using 3-inch (OD) tubing and features cast stainless steel flanges for positive exhaust gas sealing. (2009-11 RX-8 exhaust systems differ with regards to the positioning of the outlet tips and are NOT compatible with earlier 2004-08 RX-8 models.)

    Twin Tips
    The REV8 RX-8 Exhaust system will certainly stand out from the crowd with its distinctive twin tip outlet design! A first of its kind offering for the RX-8, these highly polished stainless steel tips offer a welcome change from the standard single tip design and provide a well-balanced look to the rear of the RX-8. Mirroring the design of the new-for-2009 tail light assembly, the twin tips provide a symmetrical balance from rear facing angles, and maximizes the exhaust openings in the bumper.

    Stock production engine – with RB street or race exhaust + 3.5 HP approx.

    Sound Quality
    While louder than the stock system, particularly under full throttle, this exhaust system can be used for those looking for a very aggressive exhaust tone for their daily-driven RX-8. A modest driving technique will produce a moderate and tolerable exhaust tone, but jump on the throttle and this exhaust really comes to life. Full throttle does not produce a buzzy or harsh, but a more exotic sound like that of a tuned V-6 engine. During a long-distance trip to the race track during prototype testing for this system, our independent test driver commented that highway cruising was very tolerable, without any droning sounds or harmonics.

    This exhaust system is equipped with a stainless steel connecting pipe and all required mounting hardware.

    The Racing Beat RX-8 Race Exhaust System V2 extended tip is a lightweight exhaust system that is intended for race applications. Originally designed to meet the demands of RX-8 autocross/circuit racers, this system is significantly lighter than the stock system and has been designed to meet a race track-imposed sound limit. As compared with the original RX-8 Race exhaust system, the V2 version features an extended tip section which extends rearward through a single bumper opening.

    System Weight
    The Racing Beat Race Exhaust System has been designed to offer a significant weight reduction over the stock RX-8 system, compare the following:

    Stock system + connecting-pipe = 39 lbs
    Racing Beat Race Muffler (21 lbs) + Connecting-pipe (8 lbs) = 29 lbs
    This is a 25% reduction in weight over the stock system!

    All components are handcrafted using 304-stainless steel materials for excellent durability and strength. As a weight saving measure, Racing Beat decided to eliminate the decorative tip outlet, and instead provided a downward-angled outlet pipe. This pipe reflects exhaust noise downward in an attempt to further dissipate the sound.
