Racing Beat Single Exhaust System, 84-85 12A with Automatic Transmission
Racing Beat offers a complete RX-7 high-performance exhaust system for the 1984-85 12A RX-7 (w/automatic transmission) which includes our Header/Collector, a Power-Pulse Presilencer, and our legendary Power Pulse main muffler. These components attach to all stock mounting points, and include all necessary gaskets and hardware. The only component not included is the factory connecting pipe that mounts just ahead of the main muffler. There is no horsepower to be gained by replacing this pipe with a larger diameter assembly. If your factory connecting pipe needs replacing, we suggest you contact your local Mazda dealer or muffler shop.
These exhaust systems offer excellent horsepower gains when you require a muffled exhaust system for your stock-ported engine. The actual horsepower increase depends on which year/model stock RX-7 exhaust system you are comparing to, but a 22% increase at 7000 rpm is typical. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Power-Pulse Presilencer and the Power Pulse Main muffler, the exhaust noise is only slightly higher than stock, with a very low, pleasant character.

Racing Beat offers a complete RX-7 high-performance exhaust system for the 1984-85 13B (GSL-SE) RX-7. This system includes our Road Race Header, a Power-Pulse Presilencer, and our legendary Power Pulse main muffler. The Power Pulse Presilencer unit is equipped with an exhaust backpressure pickup tube that allows the correct operation of the 6-Port intake actuators. Be careful, if you are considering a replacement exhaust system that does not have this important feature, your intake system will not perform correctly and a noticeable decrease in high RPM performance will occur.

The REV TII High Performance RX-7 Exhaust is legendary with FC3S owners. This RX-7 exhaust system includes a 3-inch OD REV TII Down Pipe from the turbo outlet that mates to a REV TII Presilencer section. The outlet of the presilencer connects to the inlet of the REV TII Y-Pipe which routes the exhaust gases down two 2.375-inch OD (60mm) pipes into a pair of left and right REV TII Power Pulse Mufflers. Once installed, this bolt-on exhaust system increases horsepower approximately 32% – that’s a 59 HP increase on a 1987 Turbo II RX-7!
The REV TII High Performance RX-7 Exhaust system reduces exhaust gas back-pressure significantly, thereby allowing the un-assisted turbo boost pressure to increase to 10-11 psi. (Note: A fuel cut controller device is required to prevent fuel cutoff to the rear rotor above the factory pre-set limit.)
This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets. (The kit does not include turbo outlet gasket, if needed it can be ordered separately.) The down pipe section is provided with a position for the oxygen sensor.

Racing Beat exhaust systems are designed as an emissions legal, cat-back, bolt-on system and utilize all existing mounting brackets and hangers. Beautifully manufactured from pre-polished 304 series 3-inch OD stainless steel tubing, the straight-thru design of this exhaust muffler has been designed to offer your RX-7 maximum turbo performance with a 12-13 horsepower gain. The heart of every Racing Beat exhaust system starts with the muffler canister. High temperature, compressed sound insulation material is wrapped around the core of every muffler canister to provide excellent noise suppression. Each muffler is finished with a highly polished, double-walled 4-inch OD stainless steel tip. If you no longer have the Mazda factory-installed muffler rear mounting bracket, we also include our Racing Beat-manufactured stainless steel FD Muffler Rear Mounting Bracket with this exhaust system. The Racing Beat street legal, Power Pulse cat-back RX-7 exhaust system is the perfect replacement for your RX-7 exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. If you need to retain the emissions status of your RX-7 and keep the sound level to a tolerable level – look no further than this Racing Beat system!The RX-7 exhaust system consists of a Racing Beat Y-pipe and two 2.375″-inch (OD) 304-stainless steel Power Pulse mufflers. The replacement Y-pipe is manufactured using 2.5-inch (OD) tubing, splitting off into a pair of 2-inch (OD) tubes feeding the left and right Power Pulse Muffler canisters.
Careful consideration was given to the correct placement of each muffler canister with regards to the opening in the rear bumper. Racing Beat positioned the muffler canister “under” the rear bumper in order to present a more integrated look. Unlike many aftermarket systems that use a simple universal muffler, the Racing Beat system utilizes a rotary-engine designed muffler that has been specifically designed for the 1986-92 RX-7 application.
Performance tests on a Dyno Jet chassis dyno have shown a 7.3 HP gain over the stock system (stock Turbo II). This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets.

Utilizing in-house dyno test facilities, the Racing Beat engineering staff has undertaken exhaust system extensive testing with the RX-8 Renesis engine. Their research has found that simply adding a large-diameter, “straight-through” muffler is very loud, and power gains are only modest. They focused their development efforts on optimizing the power output, while maintaining a moderate, but aggressive exhaust tone.
Based upon our initial test sessions, it appeared that the Mazda engineers did not leave much “untapped” horsepower behind in the stock exhaust system. Although it appears there might be modest power gains available from a “cat-back” exhaust system, be wary of big horsepower claims from any aftermarket exhaust system.

RX8 Exhaust Installation InstructionsThe Racing Beat REV8 “Street Legal”, Cat-Back RX-8 Exhaust System (Twin Outlet Tips) is the perfect replacement for your stock exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. Racing Beat’s RX-8 exhaust system consists of a 304 stainless steel Racing Beat connecting-pipe, muffler canisters, tubing, flanges, and outlet tips. The replacement connecting-pipe is manufactured using 3-inch (OD) tubing and features cast stainless steel flanges for positive exhaust gas sealing. (2009-11 RX-8 exhaust systems differ with regards to the positioning of the outlet tips and are NOT compatible with earlier 2004-08 RX-8 models.)

Originally designed to meet the demands of RX-8 autocross/circuit racers, this system is significantly lighter than the stock system and has been designed to meet a race track-imposed sound limit. As compared with the original RX-8 Race exhaust system, the V2 version features an extended tip section which extends rearward through a single bumper opening.
