Over the years Racing Beat has been amazed at just how many of these systems they’ve sold for the 1993-95 RX-7! Considering the rather small number of 1993-95 RX-7’s that were sold in the US, they thought that certainly the sales of these mufflers would have been rather modest. Man, were they wrong! After selling hundreds and hundreds of these systems it left them thinking as to why their Racing Beat system has proven to be so popular over the years. Comparison with other available systems revealed that other systems featured large exaggerated muffler tips and a louder, more aggressive exhaust tone as compared to the Racing Beat exhuast system. The Racing Beat systems offered for the third-generation RX-7 have featured either an OEM-style Dual Tip or a modestly-sized Single Tip configuration, and a mellow, deep tone. With this classic combination of great looks, great sound, and great performance its no wonder why the Racing Beat system has been at the top of the heap for so long! Racing Beat exhaust systems are designed as an emissions legal, cat-back, bolt-on system and utilize all existing mounting brackets and hangers. Beautifully manufactured from pre-polished 304 series 3-inch OD stainless steel tubing, the straight-thru design of this exhaust muffler has been designed to offer your RX-7 maximum turbo performance with a 12-13 horsepower gain. The heart of every Racing Beat exhaust system starts with the muffler canister. High temperature, compressed sound insulation material is wrapped around the core of every muffler canister to provide excellent noise suppression. Each muffler is finished with a highly polished, double-walled 4-inch OD stainless steel tip. If you no longer have the Mazda factory-installed muffler rear mounting bracket, we also include our Racing Beat-manufactured stainless steel FD Muffler Rear Mounting Bracket with this exhaust system. Every system comes complete with all required mounting hardware and gaskets.

1986-92 RX-7 Street Exhaust System
The Racing Beat street legal, Power Pulse cat-back RX-7 exhaust system is the perfect replacement for your RX-7 exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. If you need to retain the emissions status of your RX-7 and keep the sound level to a tolerable level – look no further than this Racing Beat system!The RX-7 exhaust system consists of a Racing Beat Y-pipe and two 2.375″-inch (OD) 304-stainless steel Power Pulse mufflers. The replacement Y-pipe is manufactured using 2.5-inch (OD) tubing, splitting off into a pair of 2-inch (OD) tubes feeding the left and right Power Pulse Muffler canisters.
Careful consideration was given to the correct placement of each muffler canister with regards to the opening in the rear bumper. Racing Beat positioned the muffler canister “under” the rear bumper in order to present a more integrated look. Unlike many aftermarket systems that use a simple universal muffler, the Racing Beat system utilizes a rotary-engine designed muffler that has been specifically designed for the 1986-92 RX-7 application.
Performance tests on a Dyno Jet chassis dyno have shown a 7.3 HP gain over the stock system (stock Turbo II). This bolt-on system uses the stock mounting points for ease of installation. Each system is supplied with all necessary mounting hardware and gaskets.

Racing Beat Power Pulse Muffler, 83-85 All
1983-85 RX-7 Power Pulse Muffler – Racing Beat has been manufacturing replacement muffler canisters for rotary powered vehicles for over 40 years. Ordinary replacement mufflers don’t stand a chance against the extreme temperatures and pounding exhaust gas pulsation generated by the rotary engine. Many of these replacement RX-7 mufflers will quickly burn up the packing material and self-destruct under these harsh conditions. Many years ago Racing Beat discovered an exhaust system supplier deep in the heart of the Italian countryside that was willing to produce Their RX-7 mufflers for them. That was over 30 years ago and they have never looked back! In fact, we can’t ever recall having a complaint with one of their mufflers, they just flat out work. Solid, strong and quiet, they hold up extremely well against the abuse of the harsh rotary exhaust.
The Power Pulse RX-7 Mufflers interchange exactly with the stock RX-7 muffler on the 1983-85 chassis years. The main body of the muffler measures 8 inches in diameter and 18 inches in length. The heavy-duty construction, both internally and externally, ensures a long life. In a typical application, this muffler adds up to 5 HP over the Mazda factory muffler and is as quiet as a stock muffler with an improved note – deep and throaty, with no annoying metallic character. Emissions legal, this muffler bolts to the outlet of the connecting pipe section. Gaskets are not included, but are available separately if needed.
Now may be the time to consider replacing the old rubber muffler hangers on your RX-7. New replacement hangers will ensure correct alignment of the RX-7 muffler canister and tip position in the bumper opening.

Racing Beat’s Road Race mufflers are intended to bolt-up to the outlets of the Road Race Y-Pipe section (16411) only, and are not compatible with the stock or Racing Beat (16447) y-pipe section. These mufflers can be ordered separately for use in custom applications. With over 25 years of exhaust system production experience, Racing Beat has the ability to match the correct internal muffler canister design to the engines exhaust output to provide the optimum combination of sound and performance. This muffler canister is manufactured using 304-stainless steel and features a 2-inch diameter straight-through design for maximum performance gains. Finished with a 3.5-inch polished 304 stainless steel tip, this muffler sounds as good as it looks! All stock hanger positions are retained.

Utilizing in-house dyno test facilities, the Racing Beat engineering staff has undertaken exhaust system extensive testing with the RX-8 Renesis engine. Their research has found that simply adding a large-diameter, “straight-through” muffler is very loud, and power gains are only modest. They focused their development efforts on optimizing the power output, while maintaining a moderate, but aggressive exhaust tone.
Based upon our initial test sessions, it appeared that the Mazda engineers did not leave much “untapped” horsepower behind in the stock exhaust system. Although it appears there might be modest power gains available from a “cat-back” exhaust system, be wary of big horsepower claims from any aftermarket exhaust system.
Racing Beat’s testing has provided the following results:

RX8 Exhaust Installation InstructionsThe Racing Beat REV8 “Street Legal”, Cat-Back RX-8 Exhaust System (Twin Outlet Tips) is the perfect replacement for your stock exhaust – a durable assembly offering a real horsepower gain over your stock unit. Racing Beat’s RX-8 exhaust system consists of a 304 stainless steel Racing Beat connecting-pipe, muffler canisters, tubing, flanges, and outlet tips. The replacement connecting-pipe is manufactured using 3-inch (OD) tubing and features cast stainless steel flanges for positive exhaust gas sealing. (2009-11 RX-8 exhaust systems differ with regards to the positioning of the outlet tips and are NOT compatible with earlier 2004-08 RX-8 models.)

In response to numerous requests from customers demanding a very low restriction“street capable” muffler, Racing Beat now offers the Universal Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler with a 2.75″ OD internal perforated core design to meet the performance demands of high-horsepower ported rotary engines. The Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is compatible with all 1979-85 RX-7 muffler rear mounting positions and retains the factory stock appearance; this PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler includes an inlet of 3″.
The Racing Beat Universal Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is manufactured by the same exhaust components manufacturer that has produced the “tried and proven” First Generation RX-7 Power Pulse mufflers (1979-80, 1981-82, and 1984-85) since the mid-1980s. Utilizing a heavy-walled canister shell and extremely durable heat and noise insulating materials, the Racing Beat Power Pulse PR-Extreme RX-7 Muffler is engineered for the high exhaust gas temperatures found in rotary engine applications.
The main body of the muffler canister measures 8 inches in diameter and 18 inches in length. The dual outlet tips are completely chrome-plated with straight-cut outlet.

The Racing Beat RX-8 Race Exhaust System V2 extended tip is a lightweight exhaust system that is intended for race applications. Originally designed to meet the demands of RX-8 autocross/circuit racers, this system is significantly lighter than the stock system and has been designed to meet a race track-imposed sound limit. As compared with the original RX-8 Race exhaust system, the V2 version features an extended tip section which extends rearward through a single bumper opening.
System Weight
The Racing Beat Race Exhaust System has been designed to offer a significant weight reduction over the stock RX-8 system, compare the following:Stock system + connecting-pipe = 39 lbs
Racing Beat Race Muffler (21 lbs) + Connecting-pipe (8 lbs) = 29 lbs
This is a 25% reduction in weight over the stock system!All components are handcrafted using 304-stainless steel materials for excellent durability and strength. As a weight saving measure, Racing Beat decided to eliminate the decorative tip outlet, and instead provided a downward-angled outlet pipe. This pipe reflects exhaust noise downward in an attempt to further dissipate the sound.
